Mummy Makers at the Museum

Mummy Makers at the Museum

Another successful children’s craft afternoon was held at East Street Museum at the start of half term on Monday 22nd October.

With the Rosetta Stone cast still on display the theme for the event was Egyptian crafts.  Note that there is just one more week-end to see the cast before it goes back to the British Museum.  (And how privileged we feel for having been permitted to borrow it!)

About 15 young people came  to make things on the special afternoon — in the company of their parents, grandparents and other visitors  making over 50 altogether so the afternoon was quite busy.

Children made Egyptian style jewellery, collars, amulets and head dresses,  also mummies and cats. They all enjoyed themselves and  thanks are due to the Museum ladies who volunteered to help – Sue, Amy , Yvonne and Jo.

And the Rye and Winchelsea Rotary Club also gets a big thanks for sponsoring this event!
