Oct 25-26 East Street Museum

Don’t miss the last chance before winter closing to visit the East Street Museum!

It will be open on Saturday and Sunday (October 25 and 26) between 10:30 and 4:30.

Captain PugwashThanks to a winning combination of Free Admission; an enticing banner at the entrance; special exhibitions on World War I and — during the Rye Arts Festival, on Rye’s French Connection ; a chance to enjoy a video of historic Rye; the ever-popular Captain Pugwash Quiz for children; and a team of keen volunteers we’ve welcomed hundreds of visitors during summer weekends and the two week Festival period — often more than that in a single day.

Whether from China, Hungary, France, Canada or a host of other countries, or daytripping from adjacent counties, or longtime local residents who’ve never been before, or regulars coming to see What’s New, our visitors have not only been expressing their own satisfaction — through donations as well as words — but adding to our volunteer stewards’ store of information, making their job a pleasure too.

East Street will be open again in the Spring of course, and for special events such as our monthly talks during the winter months, while the Ypres Tower remains open daily throughout the year. If you’ve not been there lately it is certainly time to go again for the range of new exhibits and the recently opened Women’s Tower.

Perhaps we’ll see you this weekend?
