Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Thanks to Heather Stevenson for the report and the photos!

As part of the Museum’s 90th Birthday celebrations, a free children’s event was held on the afternoon of Tuesday 14th August.

A very busy afternoon ensued with 29 children and their teddies attending plus their parents/grandparents (37 adults). The Ypres Tower top garden was quite crowded, everyone had fun.

There were games to play – skittles, ring toss and bean bag throwing. Also a craft table with childen making teddy bear faces and masks.

Of course there was a little picnic —  with drinks, biscuits and cakes.

Children were entertained with joining in the action song  ‘We’re going on a Bear Hunt’ and singing the ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ song. Picnic rugs had been provided and a few Teddy Bear stories were read. Some of us were glad of a short sit down.

Thank you to all the children who attended – you were all very well behaved. There were local children as well as holiday makers from Camber and Eastbourne  and other nearby resorts. . Thank you to the Museum Muses ladies for organising this – Heather, Sue, Sue M and Caroline.

Another children’s event will be held in the October half term. Look out for mummy making and all things Egyptian !
