Victorian Ghost Stories for Rye

Victorian Ghost Stories for Rye

WACOR logoFriday, 15th March Victorian Ghost Stories     Philippa Urquhart

The actress Philippa Urquhart provided a memorable evening for her fellow Ryers by performing ghost stories by Guy  Maupassant, Mary Braddon and E F Benson.    Philippa, as a Rye resident who  has worked in film, television and theatre for more than 50 years,  toured the world as a former member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and  appeared in numerous West End productions and 25 different TV series, certainly had the  ideal background for inspiring members of her audience  to write their own stories!  Sample comment:

Pippa’s readings were varied and kept my attention throughout. The evening has inspired me to go away and write my own story.

The evening was sponsored by WACOR, a joint venture of Rye Museum and the Rye Partnership.

WACOR is planning to hold further sessions to support the writing process and aims to create an audio book of the stories produced to be sold at the Castle museum for the opening of the Women’s Tower in June.

If anyone is interested in writing their own Victorian style story and would like further details, please contact Cathi Baker. Email: cathi.baker@ryepartnership.org   Tel: 07590 527529
